Chef Kitchen Manager

Seeking an experienced, motivated, creative manager for our small kitchen. Our restaurant focuses on crafting stone oven pizzas and calzones. Currently we are finishing up with pre Covid ingredients but will move to pizzas and calzones exclusively. This will require someone with multiple years experience at making woodstone pizzas, including from scratch dough and dough products.

This position requires a deep sense of responsibility, knowledge of the operations of a commercial kitchen, ability to manage a diverse crew of individuals, knowledge of food & labor costing and money management, and creativity when coming up with locally inspired specials.

Our team is very cooperative, tight knit & dedicated to food quality and positive atmosphere. Our long-term previous manager is moving on to a different city and we are looking for someone who is able to fill a demanding yet rewarding role.

Skills required:
-Food & labor cost percentage calculations, awareness of financial goals & limitations
-Knowledge of the workings of a professional kitchen
-Managing/scheduling/hiring team of 8-12 cooks & dishwashers
-Developing and writing recipes
-Cooking on the line 5 days a week, prepping, working all stations as other employees do
-Coordinating with local purveyors, farmers, foodservice companies
-Ordering products & maintaining pars
-Working closely with owners and staff to maintain consistency
-Creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere and culture in the kitchen
-Coordinating with front of house manager & working with servers to ensure communication

Packaging Lead

Chuckanut Brewery in Washington State is hiring a Packaging Lead. This is a great opportunity  for the right individual to grow with the company and make the future of the position their own. With the current market forcing us to lean more heavily on bottled beer, you will be in a unique position to shape your role, in this previously unexplored market.

About the Packaging Operator role:

The Packaging Lead position is a key role responsible for the day-to-day packaging of Chuckanut beers and the continual upkeep of the packaging equipment. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Own filler operations of Meheen bottling line
  • Execute pre-production QA/QC of equipment
  • Bottle and keg beer according to the daily packaging schedule
  • Cleaning and Filling of Kegs
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving packaging issues
  • Set up, operate, and maintain our Meheen bottling machine and kegging equipment 
  • Identify and implement improvements to maximize package quality and operations efficiency
  • Pick, document, and load finished beer to be distributed to our customers
  • Work towards the daily goal of a clean and organized cooler/cellar/brewery
  • Assist with preventative maintenance initiatives
  • Create and maintain packaging team  SOPs 
  • Assist with cellar work as needed

Packaging Operator qualifications:

At a minimum, the Packaging Operator must have the following:

  • 2+ years of experience operating packaging equipment (prefer: carbonated beverage packaging)
  • Ability to mechanically maintain and adjust packaging equipment to improve its operation
  • Experience with packaging equipment changeovers and mechanical adjustments
  • Good interpersonal skills, team spirit, initiative
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to regularly lift/carry heavy supplies, like bags of grain and kegs of beer
  • Ability to work in a brewery environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot
  • Ability to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
