In the 1700’s brewer Ralph Harwood in London came up with a beer that mimicked the flavor of a blended beer that was popular at the time. The hard working London porters favored this beer and it soon became known as Porter beer. This new Bean Stop Chuckanut Porter carries the roasted malt flavor with grace and ease and has a clean and very smooth finish with coffee as a main flavor component. The Bellingham’s Bean Stop Toddy (slow cold brewed coffee taking over 24 hours to make) has been added to our Robust Porter for a coffee porter.
The Chuckanut Bean Stop Porter is very versatile with food. Creamy sauces are a great match for porter with its dark roasted and smoky aroma. Meatloaf is perfect with a porter, and at lunchtime nothing is better than a reuben sandwich and a porter.
