NEW BEERS FOR MAY

May is a big month for new Chuckanut beers, starting with our Mexican Style Lager! This great lager is made with barley and some Skagit Valley wheat malt for a dry finish  bringing visions of sandy white beaches and warm waters. For the first time we will be bottling this great beer to take on picnics and bbq's! Tapping May 1 and bottles available too just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Dortmunder is back! Our gold Dortmund export style lager is back by popular demand, make sure to get a pint to see why. Rauch Helles the lightly smoky Helles lager is made with Beechwood smoked Weyermann malts for a smooth delicately smoky flavor and aroma. The perfect food beer that goes great with any roasted fish or chicken dish or spicy foods too! Summer Pale Ale is a bright ale just in time for summer and good weather. This is new to the Chuckanut line up, you'll definitely have to get a taste of this bright mash up pale ale with a delicious hop presence. And to complete the new beer line up we've brought back Rye Lager to enjoy. Complex malt bill with a deep golden color and medium body this lager is slightly spicy from the use of rye malts!

CELEBRATE SEATTLE BEER WEEK

Seattle Beer Week is on it's way May 9-19 and Chuckanut will be there to help celebrate. So far we've got a bunch of fun events lined up for the celebrations. May 11 we're part of the Brewshed Alliance at Watershed's Brewshed Challenge. We will donate part of your purchase for Chuckanut's beer to Washington Wild! On May 12 we'll be part of the Altstadt's Lager Fest in Pioneer Square. Pike Brewing's Women in Beer happens on May 13 this year and we're in, look for us, grab a taste and say hi! On May 16 we are at two different Bellingham Tap Takeovers. One at Beer Junction in West Seattle and the other is at the Watershed where Top Toys will be on hand with it's creative board games to play. On May 17 Mari and Will Kemper will take part in the Reuben's Round Table Brewers Discussion on various topics pertinent to the craft beer scene. And we'll be celebrating with Reubens again on Saturday May 18 for their Reuben's and Friends Festival, always fun with live music, great beer and food trucks! Planning is on going for events during Seattle Beer Week so keep you eyes open for additional events celebrating craft beer in Seattle.

IN THE KITCHEN IN MAY

May is a very creative month in the kitchen! Not only do we have our weekly specials but our month's soup is Jack Fruit Posole! This posole has jack fruit, hominy, ancho chiles, new mexico peppers, tomato and a Mexican spice blend! Perfect with our Mexican Style Lager! And our seasonal salad changes up to Caprese with fresh mozzarella, basil, tomatoes and balsamic dressing. We are also starting our summer brunch series on Mother's Day weekend. Brunch will start May 11 and run every Saturday and Sunday from 10-1 pm throughout the summer. The regular menu will be available on weekends at 11 am as usual. The new brunch menu can be found on line later in May.

AROUND THE SOUND AND BEYOND WITH CHUCKANUT

South Nut continues the Port of Trivia into May at the Port of Skagit. The first and third Thursday of the month Chuckanut's South Nut Tap Room has trivia while the second and fourth Thursdays it happens at Garden Path down the road. Chuckanut Maibock will be served at the first ever Goat Fest at Varietal Brewing in Sunnyside, WA. This new brewery will be roasting goat for tacos and serving up a variety of Maibock beers from around the state! And this will be the second time Chuckanut has been invited to participate in the Pils Pride Fest at Birrificio Italiano just north of Milan, Italy May 11-12.
