CHUCKANUT WINS TWO GABF GOLD MEDALS

Chuckanut Brewery was awarded two Gold Medals for their Chuckanut beers at this year’s GABF. A Gold for Kolsch German style Ale and a Gold for Chuckanut Dunkel Lager were awarded at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver, Colorado October 7, 2017. The GABF 2017 had 8,100 entries by 2,290 breweries and gave out 292 medals. It is the largest commercial beer competition in the world. Award-winning brewers received prestigious medals in 98 categories establishing the examples of each style in the U.S. A gold medal signifies the best example of each beer style. The entries were evaluated by 236 judges from 13 countries. This is the third time Chuckanut Dunkel (2010 and 2014) has been awarded a Gold medal at the GABF and the third time for Chuckanut Kolsch (2011 and 2015). They have both received Silver GABF medals too!

RELEASING BOCK IN BOTTLES AND ON TAP

Chuckanut Bock is one of our all time favorite special rich beers that we have made over the years. Not always available and when it is we can't wait to taste it so this year we have decided to brew four different Bock style beers throughout the fall, winter and spring. We start with Bock, the dark, very malty and strong lager that is brewed across Germany and northern European countries. With over 6% ABV this beer will age well and taste great even when it's a year old. We've aged it about 3 months, giving a deceptively smooth taste. Special release of bottles of Bock will be available at the end of October with a tapping around October 27. Watch for the release of Baltic Porter (December), Doppelbock (February) & Maibock (May)!

Time to enjoy the fall bounty so get in for tasting our new October specials. Flammküchen (German Flatbread) with Jack Mountain rasher bacon, caramelized onions, roasted fingerling potatoes, herbed creme fraiche, Ferndale Farmstead fresh mozzarella is our October locals pizza. And we've got our African Peanut Soup (Vegan / gluten free) made with
Terra Verde butternut squash, harissa spiced peanut broth, Slanted Sun Farm rainbow chard, ginger, tomatoes, & roasted peanuts to warm you up on these cold, wet fall days. Of course we always have a new and delicious Seafood Special almost every week. Just check out the Specials menu for that and the great desserts our chef cooks up!

CHUCKANUT AT EVENTS

October is already happening with events around the Sound. You might have missed the Anacortes Bier on the Pier last weekend but mark your calendars for the Brew on the Slough in La Conner at the Maple Hall October 21. And Shoot the Trails photo show at the Bellingham Tec College is on October 14, a great mix of photography and good beer. If you're looking for a fun place to watch some football join us this coming Monday October 16 when Fresh Chive food truck will be at South Nut with their local tacos and bbq pork sandwiches. We'll have Monday night football on in the cozy South Nut Tap Room. Our Chuckanut Brewers Nights continue at Imbibe in Maple Valley on October 19 this month if you live out that way. Its always a fun place to visit. Don't forget to dress up on October 31 and come over to North Nut for our Chuckanut Halloween Costume Contest. Starting earlier at 8:30 pm this year, win yourself some great schwag!
